Our Origin – The Treasure of the Snow Land

On the vast snowy plateau of Tibet, local people call the yak "Nor", meaning treasure. For centuries, yaks have lived in harmony with the natural environment at high altitudes, providing invaluable resources to humanity: fine wool, Yakoo (the finest yak down fiber), milk, meat, and even dung used as sustainable fuel. Yaks are known as "The Treasure of the Snow Land."

Exceptional Thermal Insulation System

Living year-round in extreme high-altitude conditions, yaks have naturally developed an exceptional thermal insulation system:

  • The long outer hair is strong and waterproof.
  • The inner Yakoo (finest yak down fiber near the skin) is soft and naturally insulating.
  • Yakoo fibers are hollow, trapping air and forming a natural insulation layer.
  • The surface scales of Yakoo fibers are thin, making the fiber lightweight and breathable.

Rare and Precious

Yakoo is extremely rare and difficult to collect. Nomads can only gather it in summer, when it naturally sheds. The fiber is collected by hand without harming the yak.

Each yak produces only a small amount annually, and after washing and carding, only 25–30% of the raw material can be used for high-end products such as sweaters and shawls.

Ecological Sustainability

From an ecological perspective, yaks are more sustainable than goats. Yaks graze by licking grass without damaging the roots, while goats often uproot grass entirely.

Yak dung also serves as natural fertilizer for plateau grasslands. This ecological balance makes Yakoo fiber one of the most environmentally friendly luxury materials in the world.

These unique natural and ethical qualities have made Yakoo products a new trend in the international sustainable fashion industry.
